MEET THE REAL DOT

If you’ve already read the origins of Pandan the Panda, some of this story may sound familiar. Lactasari owner, Dorothy King, was born in Indonesia. Her grandparents had left China by boat and her grandmother gave birth to Dorothy’s parents in their new homeland. Dorothy grew up on her father’s dairy farm, which was called Lactasari.

BACKGROUND

In 1998, Dorothy left home to study in New Zealand, initially doing medicine but then switching to what she loved most: Food Science and Nutrition, at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. After graduating in 2006, she completed a Culinary Art course, a chef qualification and enjoyed jobs as a New Product Developer in the food industry and a chef at a fine dining restaurant.

NOWDAYS

Fast forward to 2013, when she married an Australian man and produced three beautiful children. (Humans, not pankols!) In 2020, she took over her late father’s dairy farm and is in the process of developing a range of delicious products under the Lactasari brand. Meanwhile, she’s also pursuing her passion to bring pandan to the world, expanding the product range so that more and more people can fall in love with the distinct flavour of this Southeast Asian speciality.
